Overview
In accordance with this mission, our faculty and fellows engage in pulmonary and critical care education and research through the lens of an international perspective. Several of our faculty work with collaborators from and/or have appointments in the Department of Global Health. Faculty and fellows perform research internationally and participate in global health activities in professional societies such as the American Thoracic Society.
INTERSECT
We are home to INTERSECT, a program that focuses on lung disease and critical illness in the context of global health. Led by Dr. Eoin West, INTERSECT’s mission is to promote research and education in these intersecting domains to improve the well-being of populations around the world, especially in under-resourced areas. Pilot project support for global health trainees is available through the INTERSECT-Ellison fellowship, generously funded by the Ellison family. Since 2012, 20 trainees have been supported by this mechanism.
