Teaching Associate

The successful applicant will provide care independently and collaboratively with other team members. Duties will include rounding daily with the critical care team, writing daily notes, coordinating the care of patients with the service attending physician and fellow, and participating in teaching opportunities in the clinical setting. Faculty members are encouraged to provide input at regularly held section meetings to address clinical issues and to help ensure the efficient deployment of team resources. As a member of the inpatient care team, the APP will need to provide coverage on weekends and holidays to ensure continuity of care.
Clinical Assistant Professor – (ICU, full-time or part-time)
The successful candidate will conduct both day and night ICU-based clinical work with patient care efforts at Harborview Medical Center (HMC) and the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC), Montlake and Northwest Campuses. PCCSM staffs a range of general and specialized ICU services across these diverse campuses. These positions frequently include clinical bedside teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, and often involve multi-disciplinary care of complex patients. Positions may be comprised of a mix of daytime and nighttime assignments or full-time night assignments in one or more ICUs depending on clinical need and provider interest.
Assistant, Associate or Full Professor (WOT) – VA
This position is based at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) and employment is paid directly by the VA.
Clinical responsibilities will include both inpatient and outpatient activities at the VA Puget Sound and will be involved in working with and teaching trainees in these settings. Clinical work will include attending on the medical intensive care unit and pulmonary consultation service, and outpatient pulmonary clinic. Time allocated to clinical work will be commensurate with the academic track. For physician-scientists, clinical time is expected to be 25% FTE or more, depending on grant funding to allow protected time for research. Administrative responsibilities could include medical directorship of one or more of our various pulmonary critical care programs. The selected candidate will be expected to have a research program that aligns with the mission of the VA to improve the health and health care of Veterans, and to participate in mentoring of physician-scientists and other trainees. Successful health services researchers would be eligible to become an investigator in the Seattle-Denver Center of Innovation for Veteran-Centered and Value-Driven Care (COIN). Investigators in the COIN conduct outstanding health services research that promotes Veteran-centered and value-driven care, generate and disseminate knowledge that contributes to the well-being of Veterans, partner with operational leaders to implement research findings into clinical care and train the next generation of health services researchers and leaders.
Assistant or Associate Professor (P/S) – HIV and COPD
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research focused on HIV and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Scholarship, teaching, and clinical service will be considered integral to this position. Clinical work will be both inpatient and outpatient and will focus on outpatient care in the General Pulmonary clinics, as well as inpatient service based on division and section needs at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) or Harborview Medical Center (HMC). Teaching responsibilities will include clinical bedside teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.
