Overview
The University of Washington Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program offers an ACGME accredited clinical fellowship.
This is a multi-disciplinary program involving faculty from:
- Pulmonary Medicine
- Neurology
- Psychiatry
- Otolaryngology
- Dentistry
- Pediatrics
- Internal Medicine
Applications are accepted from candidates who are board eligible in internal medicine, neurology, psychiatry, otolaryngology, pediatrics, family medicine, or anesthesiology.
The goal of the UW Sleep Medicine Fellowship program is to provide exceptional multidisciplinary clinical training through a one-year fellowship for candidates with strong academic potential. The program also offers opportunities in teaching and research to foster lifelong learning and inspire careers in academic medicine.
The primary training site is the UW Medicine Sleep Center located at Harborview Medical Center.
Additional training sites include:
- University of Washington Medical Center
- Veterans Administration Puget Sound
- Seattle Children's Hospital Sleep Center
Curriculum
The fellowship provides comprehensive sleep medicine training experience integrated across four unique practice sites.
Sleep fellows will gain diverse training, including:
- Adult Sleep Medicine (clinics and sleep study interpretation)
- Pediatric sleep medicine (clinics and sleep study interpretation)
- Behavioral sleep medicine
- Inpatient sleep medicine consultation
- Supervised sleep study interpretation
- Training in technical aspects of polysomnography and scoring
- Sleep Otolaryngology
- Sleep Dentistry
- Scholarly activity
There are three distinct training tracks available:
- General Seep Medicine Track: Provides training in both adult and pediatric populations.
- Pediatric-Enhanced Track: Offers additional focus pediatric sleep medicine.
- Otolaryngology-Enhanced Track: Offers additional focus on sleep surgery.
